ALIRAN (National Consciousness Movement)
This is the website associated with Malaysia's oldest human rights group. It claims that it is ‘guided by universal spiritual values,’ and on ‘building genuine unity by upholding human dignity and promoting social justice for all Malaysians’. It is now known as the Aliran Kesedaran Negara (Malay for National Consciousness Movement) and is Malaysia's first multi-ethnic reform movement dedicated to justice, freedom and solidarity. The website offers articles and commentary on political, economic and social issues and discusses the work that the Movement has done in terms of lobbying for wide-ranging reforms in all aspects of Malaysian public life.

Malaysia Voters Union (MALVU)
The Malaysian Voters Union is a recently launched website on democratic issues in Malaysia. Constructed around the time of the 2004 general elections in Malaysia, the site offers a series of commentary on such issues as the recent elections, parliamentary debate, and economic freedoms.

World Audit Homepage
The primary objective of this website is to educate and inform on democracy, human rights, press freedom, corruption and the rule of law. World Audit draws from many sources and provides an extensive amount of updated data on country assessments in democracy, civil liberties, corruption, and rule of law, human rights, and political rights.

The democracy audit is the first of its kind, and there are more audits in the process of development in the criteria of economic freedom, and press freedom.

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs
The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is an organization working to strengthen and expand democracy on the international stage. The NDI comprises of a global network of volunteer experts who provide practical assistance to civic and political leaders while advancing democratic values, practices and institutions.

Among its many activities, the NDI works with democrats in every region of the world to build political and civic organizations, safeguard elections, and to promote citizen participation, openness and accountability in government.

The Unit for the Promotion of Democracy for the Organization of American States
This is the main body within the General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) that is responsible for activities in support of democratic consolidation in the member states. The UPDS was created in 1990 to specifically strengthen the democratic institutions and procedures for the member states of the OAS; of particular interest in this case would be the many activities the UPDS has initiated, and the legal and political framework in
which it operates under.

Nation Master
This site provides a comprehensive statistical fact sheet about electoral systems and elections from around the world. Though not always up to date on recent elections, it is a valuable resource for research into the concept and practice of electoral systems worldwide.

Vaxpolitics
This is an innovative website that covers how changes in information and elecommunications technology are constantly altering the relationship between citizens and the political system. It attempts to highlight how advances in information technology allow global citizens to play a greater role in governance and in expressing political and democratic thought.
