FNF Senegal Workshop on Liberal Democracy

The Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Cooperation with the Organisation of African Liberal Youth (OALY) organised the workshop on "Liberal Democracy and Market Economy: Prospects and Challenges on the African Continent".

Ms. Zainar Anwar, the Executive Director of Sisters in Islam was invited to attend and to give a speech on Islam
and liberal democracy. The workshop, which was held in Dakar, Senegal on October 18-22, 2003, included the following sessions:

  • A disscussion on the social dimensions of liberal policy.
  • Working group discussions on how to strengthen the liberal network.
  • Speeches of guest speakers from various liberal organisations.

At the seminar, Ms. Zainah Anwar explained her projects to create harmony between an Islamic standpoint and democracy and human rights.
