 Special Focus : German Elections

Understanding the Federal German Elections in September 2005

Most notably, the electoral system combines the first-past-the post system of the UK, USA and Malaysia, with a proportional representation in a so-called mixed proportional representation system to determine which candidate will be returned to Parliament. There are many other distinctive characteristics worthy of our attention.
