(WHY) Y-SPE? The Young Socio-Political Entrepreneur project
The Friedrich Naumann Foundation invites all young Malaysians to enter a project competition on “Young Socio-Political Entrepreneurs”.
We would like to encourage you to create a project on a matter that you think should be placed as top concern in your
society. The project proposal should aim to promote openness of the Malaysian society and should seek to achieve one of the following objectives
Liberal democracy, market economy, privatization, human rights, free society and social responsibility, the rule of law, freedom of information and freedom of expression. Details on the activities of the foundation in Malaysia and our beliefs and values are available on this site. Please read about the various key area of our work.
Who are entitled to enter this competition?
- Two categories:
o Group A: Malaysian national age between 18-25 years and
o Group B: Malaysian national age between 25-35 years
When to apply?
1st February to 31st March 2006
How to apply?

What to be included in the proposal?
The executive summary: motivation and rationale, theme and objective of the project (length between 250-500 words)/
- Strategy : size of target group and the means to approach the target group in the society, (maximum 300 words).
- Management and operation plan: structure and system of activities, management and administrative team, resource persons, (maximum 500 words).
- Expected resulted, (maximum 250 words).
- Budget, (one page, maximum 5,000 RM).
What factors or requirements do we take into consideration in the selection process?
- Innovative and creative
- Objective oriented
- Outreach (size of target group and the channels to approach them should be enough to create an impact in the society)
- Compliance with liberal values (as stated above)
- Evaluation measure (should state if there is any evaluation scheme for the activity)
- Sustainability (how will you secure the continuation of the activity once FNF support has come to an end?)
When can you expect the result?
- From 19th April 2006 onwards on www.fnfmalaysia.org
What is next?
- Those whose project proposals have been short-listed by the foundation will be invited for an interview from 26th – 30th April 2006.
What is the prize?
- The top three projects will receive logistical and financial support plus a certificate from FNF. The five runners-up will receive a certificate from FNF.
