No Education: No Freedom, No Opportunity
Manigam Krishnon, Resaerch Officer Social Strategic Foundation
The Objectives of the Seminar Programmes:
- to promote intercultural understanding and awareness of global interdependence;
- to encourage participants to develop adequate liberal response to problems of politics and development in their respective countries,
and to network doemstic and regional policies to their mutual advantage;
- to develop policies that are not only consistent but also practicable
and to put such policies into effects.
The most important topic that impressed me a lot in the discussion was literacy. A handout on literacy was distributed to us which contained very important and relevant points about literacy. Other than that almost all the participants were voluntarily asked to write minutes about each topic of the seminar. There also was a chance for each participant to present the group work. I learned to do a presentation in an effective way.
A visit to Munich, the third largest city in Germany, was a wonderful experience for me and for all of us. On the way to Munich by bus, FNF gave us a chance to visit Siemens in Erlangen city. There, we were briefed abou educational and vocational training offered by Siemens for students. We also were shown the training facilities available in Siemens. In my view, Siemens plays an important role in marking Geramny one of the sophisticated countries in the world through its high technology.
Our educational visit to the University of the German Armed Forces, the Ministry of Education of the state of Bavaria, the Chamber of Skilled Trade Professionals and also some historical buildings can not be forgotten. I have learned a lot of things about educational opportunities in Germany by visiting these places. The officersin those places treated us very well. May be in future such visit can be expanded to more educational institution in Germany. It will give more knowledge for the participants about the educational system in Germany.
Besides that, I felt that the period of the seminar was long. It could be held for less than 10 days. Futhermore,some of the sessios could have
been combined to avoid the repetition of ideas.
I take this oporunity to congratulate the FNF for organising this seminar for the betterment of young leaders and to promote liberal values which are vital for everyone to be free to live in this world.
