Trade Can Help End Poverty

MIER and FNF host Poverty Alleviation Conference
In October 2002 the Malaysian Institute of Economic Research and the FNF jointly organized a conference on 'Poverty Alleviation and Social Stability' in Kuala Lumpur. This event was attended by a number of government ministries as well as organizations such as the Consumers Association of Penang an the Economic Planning Unit. Among the many ideas discussed, were the notions of poverty era dication, globalization and poverty, and models of rural development. Recommendation from this meeting have been complied and put forth to the Ministry of National Unity and Social Development.
