The launching event was attended by 20 bloggers and 2 members of the press. The bloggers later adjourned to a gathering of Chinese bloggers where about 20 additional bloggers joined.
China Press gave us 10 full-page feature stories about Chinese blogging that ran for 10 days prior to the launch. Guang Ming Jit Poh had a short write up about the event. China Press followed up won April 11 with a half page story on the event. Merdeka Review gave us a front-page story on Apr 09. China Press IT Section gave us a front-page feature on May 14.
According to China Press, “The event is unique as it is organised by the Chinese language blogging community and has reached out to blogging communities in China and Taiwan such as Sina.Net”
Sinanet in Hong Kong has agreed to promote the event within its community.
Further, a Chinese youth magazine (Qing Nian Zhou Kan) will run stories and reports for 3 issues on their monthly magazine leading to the award ceremony.
To keep the momentum going, MyBloggerCon organising committee and volunteers attended the Bloggers' Gathering with Hong Kong Blogger Liang Wen Dao, organised by Youth4Change, and promoted the MyBloggerCon event.
Through out May 2007, press interviews and radio appearances are arranged to talk about the Chinese blogging community and trend.
