Muslim Women and the Challenges of Islamic Extremism

The chapters in the book are the outcome of collaborative research, networking and co-operation among various Muslim women’s groups from Southeast Asia and the Middle East. The task given to the paper contributors from Iran, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Morocco was to identify the nature, implications and challenges that Muslim women and Muslim women’s groups and activists face in their projects to promote an acquire rights and justice for women in their respective countries.
The book is based on a project initiated by Sisters in Islam in early 2003 with the support of the Rockefeller Foundation.
